India’s New Face

An Indian TV Channel—HEAD START—is telecasting poison against Pakistan all over the world. In Canada, for example, those not familiar with the vicious Bombay underworld and the trajectory of India-Pakistan relations may think that India is putting out recently discovered facts. Actually Indian propaganda is recycling past reports on ‘D Company”—code name for India’s very own underworld criminal enterprise and using the past locations of its members. The purpose is to link these to Pakistan and thereby to the Mumbai attacks. This also shifts focus from the incredible Hindu fanatic violence within India, the brutal treatment of minorities and the fast deteriorating Hindu-Muslim relations in India that are driving Indian Muslims towards violence.

Lest we forget-- there was involvement of Indian military, intelligence and police personnel with the militant Hindu organizations that carried out a series of terrorist acts that led to Muslim deaths. Modi, the Gujerat butcher of Muslims, is the flag of political involvement and future plans to sideline and brutalize Indian Muslims. About Christians and Dalits the less said the better. Kashmir and the North Eastern States are the scenes of ongoing brutality. So you do need propaganda to shift focus and ignore the positive offers and steps by Pakistan.

India is being told by its sycophantic elements abroad that its bilateral and international diplomacy against Pakistan has been a great state policy and that it has been successful. The policy has been good to the extent that it has thwarted the aims of those who sought to destroy India-Pakistan relations and escalate Hindu-Muslim tensions within India but it has done little else. The ‘Mumbai Dossier’ does not link Pakistan as a state to terror within India but it does expose India’s internal vulnerability and the desperate forces that its policies are creating. Whatever gains may have been made by its diplomatic option are being frittered away by its vicious media and its covert policies.

India’s decision to opt for diplomatic coercion is a steel fist within a velvet glove. There is very little doubt that India is behind the destabilization of Pakistan. The militants in Swat and FATA are getting funds and weapons from India through Afghan proxies. Indian writers, think tanks and media are going bananas projecting the violence within Pakistan and carefully avoiding India’s involvement. The diplomacy initiative provides good cover for what India is doing and what is going on within India. The government is looking for Hindu votes in the May elections so Pakistan bashing looks good and macho.

Pakistan is a resilient state. It is battling the elements that are seeking to impose their writ on Pakistan. The present situation will change but Pakistanis will remember India’s actions during its phase of vulnerability.
