Reconstruction of damaged schools by Sept

PESHAWAR: Gul Mina Bilal Ahmad, a member of the Working Committee of Awami National Party (ANP), has said the educational institutions, which had been blown up by Taliban in Swat, would start to be reconstructed in September.

She told reporters on Sunday at Bacha Khan Markaz that a total of 204 schools, 141 for girls and 63 for boys, had been damaged by Taliban and should be reconstructed now that the army operation was ending as a success. To build these schools, the provincial government had completed dialogue process with different donor agencies, which had pledged funds for this purpose, she said. She said schools for girls would be rebuilt in the first phase, adding the provincial government had planned scholarships for female students. She said under a pre-planned conspiracy, Taliban destroyed educational institutions in Malakand. She said an industrial zone would be established in Malakand soon to help create job opportunities for locals.
