Somebody called Cyril Almeida read an article by somebody called Jeremy Scahill. This man Scahill wrote about a US Joint Special Operations Command Forward Operating Base in Karachi. He also wrote about Blackwater's presence at this base under some kind of secret understanding to carry out assassinations and 'snatch and grab' operations against Taliban and Al Qaeda. He insinuated that the Pakistan Army had subcontracted Blackwater through 'security agencies'. Cyril Almeida believed him and added that an Islamabad based logistics firm-KESTRAL LOGISTICS was involved and had hired retired military personnel. Is this gullibility or a rather simplistic attempt to bad mouth the Pakistan military? Read on!
Where exactly is this US Forward Operating Base in Karachi? No location has been given and no one seems to know. Kestral Logistics is a private sector armament contracting firm doing legitimate business. It is legal to employ retired military personnel. So why has all this muck been raked up? No proof has been offered for the link being insinuated between the military and this firm. In fact apart from insinuations and conclusions drawn by Mr Almeida no proof is proffered of anything stated in the article. What Scahill says is also just his own opinion. Surely DAWN's editorial board knows this or were they pressured into publishing it?
