From politicians, to celebs, to cops and simpletons here's a country of rapists that won't fail you a chow-time whenever you're out to find a place that is most 'Afghanistanly' when it comes to violence against women. A victim of assault in a pub in Mangalore says it is not just an 'isolated incident' as is dubbed, but a deep rooted disease that has spread along with other symptoms of social hostilities in our society.


Only recently a Washington based Pew Research Center has said that India is next to only Iraq when it comes to social hostility and religious discrimination perpetrated by individuals and groups.


Women in big towns like New Delhi gear up to fight for themselves having lost faith in the government's ability to protect them from hooligans and fringe groups locked in an endless tirade over communal or religious exclusivity. According to a media report the girls in town are arming themselves with knives, baseball bats and pepper sprays to avoid an untoward situation and be in a position to defend themselves when their attackers happen to be none other than government officials and the police itself. While bravery is a rare quality, many families especially the ones belonging to the minorities are thought to suffer immensely as women coming from lower casts often are the breadwinners for their families and the rising trend limits their freedom of mobility.
