India diverting Neelum river: Jamaat Shah


Islamabad: Pakistan Indus Water Commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah has said that India is set to divert Neelum River at Kishan Ganga but Pakistan will oppose the project at all forums.




He said this while giving briefing during a meeting of Senate's Standing Committee on Water and Power held with Senator Lashkari Raesani in the chair here on Friday. Jamaat Shah said that Pakistan would move to international mediators against India for construction Kashan Ganga Dam to occupy the water or River Neelum.




He said that Pakistan is also concerned about the Indian attitude as it has built several hydro power projects at River Sindh. India has constructed three mega and eight dam projects at River Chinab and 24 such projects were under consideration. The Indus Water Commissioner said that Baglihar Dam was affecting country's defence and Pakistan has asked to set telemetry system on the said dam. He said that India wish to construct 54 mini dams on River Jehlum and project of building 10 mini dams on River Sindh is under consideration. Jammat Shah said that Pakistan would move to International mediators if India started Voolar Beraj project.
