A YOUNG woman who was allegedly tortured and insulted by an ASI of Special Branch Qaboolan Sharif, Arifwala district, staged a protest demonstration in front of the Lahore Press Club, appealing to the chief justice of Pakistan and Punjab chief minister to provide her with justice.
The woman, Farzana Bibi, a resident of Qaboolan Sharif, came to Lahore along with her mother after an ASI of Special Branch, Bashir Alwi, allegedly forced her to leave her home by implicating her in fake theft cases.
ASI Bashir was the friend of victim woman's father and he used to visit her house.
Talking to The News, Farzana Bibi said that last year in October when she along with her younger sister was present at home, ASI Bashir along with his five men barged into her house and started misbehaving with her. She said she tried to stop him and he started to torture her and he also tore her clothes.
Meanwhile, her brother came to the house and he tried to save her from ASI Bashir but he (the ASI) and his accomplices started to thrash him and she succeeded to run away from the house.
She said she was half naked and after running few yards away from the house she fell unconscious.
Farzan said that in the evening when her condition became stable, she went to Qaboolan Sharif police station for the registration of a case, she was kicked out of the police station.
After this, she went to Arifwala DSP Saleem Wariach with the same plea but he also refused to help her.
She said on the directions of the Pakpattan DPO, Qaboolan Sharif SHO registered a case but he had not mentioned all the sections in it which must have been mentioned in the FIR and a few days later the SHO declared ASI Bashir innocent in his investigation report. She said after this ASI Bashir Alwi had implicated her in fake theft cases and the police was harassing her and she was forced to live stay away from his house.
She appealed to the Punjab chief minster to provide her with justice and demanded strict legal action against the accused ASI.
She warned if the chief minister would not take any action against the highhandedness of the police, she would commit suicide in front of Chief Minister's office.
